The majority of books that I have purchased this year (50-60) have been self-published books, some have been treasures and some were almost painful to finish. I usually give ratings when finished, merely to help other readers decide whether to buy the books because I do read reviews before I purchase books. I have seen some negative reviews attacked by an author or fans of an author, which I find ridiculous because every reader has different tastes, and I'm not referring to reviews that attack authors because I don't support that either. A review should be about the book.

One trend that I'm tiring of is the book ending in a surprise cliffhanger. I wished authors would state upfront that a sequel or series is being written. It's frustrating to become enthralled in a good book, then discover that I must wait a few months to a year before the story is complete. I think it's unfair to spring this on the reader after the purchase has been made. There are a few books on my TBR list that I'm eager to read, but I'm waiting until the final installment to be released before I purchase any of them.

Thanks again for the post. --Gail H.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16406022276331871437noreply@blogger.com
