Jew...I didn't know this was the day of remembrance. Jewish people light yahrzeit candles to commemorate the dead. One way to remember might be to buy one. They are under $1. Also try to go to one of the Holocaust Museums. There is one in Washington, DC and in New York City. I went to the one in Washington and it is chilling to see the names of people who used to live in a town.
