Do you care that I don't do IMM posts?

I did do them at one point, but then people started complaining about who was getting books and what not.  It just became so political that I just stopped doing it.  I did do What I'm reading and books I've received this week.  I kinda stopped doing that one too.  I only had one negative remark about getting books, but it still stung.

Do you care what books I've received?  I mean I figured that you really couldn't care less:)  But if want to know what I've received, I guess I can do it.

Let me know what you think.  I want this blog to be what you guys want.

Thanks!

  1. I think you should do it! If they are reading your blog, than they should appreciate that you share your books with them. You give them the opportunity to discover new titles.

I know people get jealous sometimes, but honestly, I love mailbox posts, it lets me discover new books and I love seeing them!

I think that in the end it is up to you, but don't let anyone else make the decision for you.

I always liked coming to your blog and checking out the mailbox posts though, its fun!

  2. I don't do them because I don't get books regularly - more like a whole lot at once.

Most interesting I think is when you post a stack from when you go to a conference or something.

I'm glad some people do IMM because then I can see which books seem to be getting really promoted, but I don't think everyone needs to do them, especially if they aren't comfortable with it.

  3. Laura! Your blog should be what you want it to be. You're adorable but seriously don't be bullied by people to change what you do or do not post. I do a mailbox if I get books. I don't if I didn't. I have never had any bad comments about it but it wouldn't stop me doing it if I did. My blog is about moi! If you wish to share your mailbox with us, then go for it!

  4. I think it's fun, I'm always curious to know what books other people received, and something it gives me ideas on what my next purchase could be ^^

I like IMM, but if you don't feel like doing it that's fine to =)

  5. I haven't done one in so long that I've been thinking of changing tactics. From posting one post every week of what I have to posting probably one every month of my bookshelf and showing the books I've kept, need to read, and have to giveaway. Something like that.

  6. Laura, if you aren't comfortable doing IMM posts, then don't do them.

Personally, I enjoy reading other people's IMMs, as I enjoy gazing at pictures of book-splurges/stacks. Like I think IMM/posts of people's books are basically like porn to bookish people. Seeing people's purchases/review books makes me immensely happy because it's a visible sign of people's joy at books. Something that says contrary to popular belief people still read and love books. I guess, that's why I like IMM because really it's a community getting pumped up over getting books.

That said, you do what makes you comfortable and happy.

  7. I agree with Becky :) Make the blog what you want it to be. At least...that's what I do with mine. It's not that I don't care what people want to see, but I don't really care. hahahaha :P

  8. Do what is best for you! We love to hear your opinions no matter what they are and no matter what you received!

  9. I think you should do whatever inspires you, Laura. I enjoy the IMM posts, myself, although I confess that I don't participate in it all that much anymore--for similar reasons you state. Occasionally I'll be inspired to, especially if I've bought the books myself, but it's become less frequent lately.

  10. I think either way is fine...the thing I like about them is sometimes I find books and ARCs that are coming out that I hadn't seen before.

I only post them when I actually get a book, and I usually include a books I borrowed and books I bought categories too.

If you don't feel like doing it, then don't. But if you're thinking, "Maybe I should." Then go for it!

  12. I enjoy reading IMM posts cause I love seeing piles of books and finding out what new books people got (And sometimes discover an interesting book to read). But it's your blog and you shouldn't feel you have to do IMM or not do IMM, whatever is fun for you! :)

  13. Laura, if IMM is not your thing, then by all means skip it! I don't do them anymore myself. For one reason, I don't get that many books every week. For another reason, I tend to base my purchases off of other people's reviews not what just came to their mailbox. Third, I am just too lazy to keep up with it. ;) But seriously, do what you want to do on your blog. Everyone that loves you and your blog won't care whether you do an IMM post or not.

  14. I'm with the other girls. Do what makes you happy :)

Personally I'm not a huge fan of IMM.

  15. I like those kinds of posts because it's fun to see what other people are getting. Sometimes the blogs become a little high schoolish with who's-getting-what and why-didn't-I-get-that but you gota rise above it :-)

  16. I feel that way too sometimes.

But when it comes to review books I receive, I almost feel that I NEED to let ppl know I have them, cause sometimes it can take me MONTHS to actually read and then review them. At least it gets some blog time before I actually review it. :)
